Clay Hine, director of the Atlanta Vocal Project, is a distinguished barbershop musician, arranger, and coach whose deep roots in harmony run generations deep. A self-taught arranger with over 400 works, Clay has crafted charts for some of the most prominent quartets and choruses in the barbershop world. As a baritone, he won the 1999 International Quartet Championship with FRED, and he currently performs with his quartet, Brouhaha. Since 2005, he has led AVP to multiple district championships and top-10 finishes on the international stage, culminating a silver medal as co-director with our partner chorus, The Tampa Bay Heralds of Harmony in 2024. A three-decade judge (currently serving as Category Specialist for the Musicality category), influential teacher, 2023 recipient of the Joe Liles Lifetime Achievement Award, and 2024 inductee into the Barbershop Harmony Society Hall of Fame, Clay brings artistry, joy, and excellence to every performance.
